This is what you need to plant up that over sized Mason Jar, or maybe the Terrarium currently in your shopping cart. This terrarium planting material kit includes small lava rock for your drainage rock layer (bottom of your container), Activated Charcoal for removing harmful and unsightly mineral deposits, this also helps a lot with the funky funky odor you can get from overly moist growing conditions, and finally some soil to plant in.

Two options available: succulent or tropical. One is perfect for cactus, the other is best suited for your begonias and ferns. If you have a large terrarium you might need the larger of the two kits or multiples. Sometimes having the best tools of the trade really helps and we're firm believers that starting with the best soil is the way to keeping your terrarium in tip top shape. Small Kit- One 5" x 9" 1.25lb bag of potting mix (specify tropical or cacti/succulent), one 6" X 3" .25lb bag of activated charcoal, and one 6" x 3" 1.5lb bag of lava rock.

Large Kit- One 8" X 11" 3lb bag of potting mix (specify tropical or cacti/succulent), one 5" X 9" .75lb bag of activated charcoal, and one 5" X 9" 4lb bag of lava rock.
