This client wanted a feeling of lush landscape using a wide variety of trees, shrubs, grasses, and flowering plants. We used modern black containers to complement the architecture. We provided all-season interest using a combination of early and late spring flowering trees, summer flowering perennials, trees with fall color, pine and cedar evergreens. In the dining area we installed a mixed planter of flowering perennials and herbs, with an umbrella used for shade. Phyllostachys ‘Nuda’ bamboo provides screening from an air-conditioning unit and construction next door.
