Williamsburg Roof 1

These clients have a small deck off their bedroom and a large main deck. We anchored the main deck with a large tree grouping of Betula ‘Crimson Frost,’ Betula Nigra ‘Heritage’, and an Acer Palmatum ‘Bloodgood.’ Beneath these trees we installed a complimentary trio of low mixed sedum plantings. For screening from a neighboring building we installed Phyllostachys Spectablis bamboo underplanted with a variegated carex grass. At the far end of the bamboo we placed an Acer Dissectum ‘Waterfall’ (weeping japanese maple) tree, and at the other end, a Cotinus Coggygria (smokebush) with purple foliage to compliment the red leaves of the Bloodgood maple.

On the small deck, we planted a mix of ‘Fiona Sunrise’ Jasmine and Lonicera Japonica (honeysuckle) vines to grow over wire trellis systems. We also planted two Hydrangea Quercifolia (oak Leaf hydrangeas) and a row of Miscanthus ‘Morning Light’ grasses to soften the railing wall and screen for privacy.
