Lincoln Park Highrise
True DIYers the homeowners built out the containers on their own and enlisted Sprout Home to help create a casual garden where they could host friends and enjoy the view. Chicago, The Windy City, is an even Windier city eight stories up. The owners of this Lincoln Park Condo wanted a space to enjoy that would keep them comfortable even on the windiest days. . This deck has close to 360° view of the Chicago skyline, which also means the deck is completely exposed to the elements. Plants were chosen to with stand freezing temperatures and wind chill. A row of Vanderwolfs Pine Pinus Flexilis ‘Vanderwolfs Pyramid’ were planted to create a screen from winds that whip around the North East side of the building. Sturdy Whitespire Birch Betula Populifolia add interest with their exfoliating white bark and gorgeous fall color. The space in between is planted with shrubs including Spirea and Juniper that maintain a horizontal growth pattern. The whole arrangement allows for a perfect view of the lake and fireworks at Wrigley!
