This Union Square clothing store wanted a dramatic, tropical assortment of large plants for a large street-facing window as well as screening for a back window adjacent to their dressing rooms. We used a mix of low-maintenance tropicals for the large window, including Ficus Lyrata (Fiddle Leaf Fig), Euphorbia tirucalli (Pencil Cactus), Strelitzia (Bird of Paradise), Philodedron ‘Prince of Orange,’ Sago Palm, Kalanchoe and Crotons for color. In the back window we installed a row of Strelitzia in a large teak container for added height and screening. We also underplanted the Strelitzia with Coleus for color and to soften the transition.
