Place cards can totally make your dinner table. It doesn’t matter if you’re throwing a large bash like a wedding, or something small like a dinner party, the end result is still the same– awwwww! Guests know you spent a little extra time throwing together something special just for them, and it can help your guests find a seat at the table. Sure, folks can sit wherever they darn well please at most tables, but if you’re looking for your company to have the best time, try seating them next to other parties who might share similar interests.
We love this small terrarium style creation from Martha Stewart. It’s a simple small pot with a ball of moss inside. The water glass for the table makes the perfect terrarium environment without any added cost. If you’re looking for a take-home terrarium gift for your guests, try using a mason jar (upside down or not). Skip the cost of the small pot and add a piece of moss or bark, or a small succulent to the mix to create something unique. They’ll be the hit of the party, so don’t worry if you burn the chicken – all eyes will be on the centerpieces. Ok, not really, don’t burn the chicken, that will usually be more memorable than a plant in a jar (unless you’re a weirdo like us and that’s all you think about).

Here are a few recent additions to the garden that can mean an investment plant in yours. Perennials come back every season.

Bleeding Heart – A gorgeous ornamental shrub that will come back every spring. Also in a stunning red, as seen below.

Classic Lilac – the traditional spring blossom comes in 600-900 cultivars thanks to the French. This plant likes to live in well-ventilated, full sun plots. Amazingly fragrant.

Vines: An easy way to cover an unsightly wall or fence. Honeysuckle and Trumpet Vine are voracious growers. Wisteria and clematis are always favorites Check out our wide selection.

Elderberry – A unique and dramatic addition to the garden. Check out these amazing blossoms.

Easter is on our doorstep and no matter how egg-cited (see what we did there?) you are to dye some eggs, the holiday can be pretty loaded down with candy and sugary sweets. Instead, we’re taking a more natural approach to this pastel colored holiday and taking a look at some things young and old alike. We have things for your sweetheart, great gifts for guys and don’t forget — yourself!
For the men we have our Hops in a Grow Can and Baby Heads that fall into the creepy yet cool category. Have you seen our animal wine stoppers? They’re handmade and a store favorite. There’s a horse, monkey, tiger and snake. That’s right, you can cork your wine with a Tiger. Rawr!
There’s handmade soaps, incense and candles of all sorts for the ladies and we love them given in one of our metal hanging baskets. It’s a great way to keep the Easter basket feel without more wicker weighing down your living room.
Don’t forget about potted plants ready for your windowsill. Don’t worry about having to get dirty yourself, we’ll take care of the messy part for you. You’re welcome to choose from something we have potted up already or pick a container and the perfect plant for your your pad.
For the kid or kid at heart we also have comic books that are able to go straight in the garden. Each page is packed with seeds and can be planted into beautiful flowers and plants. Talk about the more you know the more you GROW. Did you laugh? I did! You should too.

As you can see we’re excited for this hoppin’ holiday and have lots of ways to fill your Easter basket or find a gift for that special someone. Sprout Home Chicago will be open on Easter Sunday from 9-7! Hop on by!
